At a Glance: This perennial herb is well known for its unique orange flower. It can grow to be 24-48 in. tall and is often found in prairies, forest edges, forest openings, and meadows.
Leaves: This species has several whorls of lance-shaped leaves that are 2-4 in long and 1 in wide.
Flowers: Inflorescences are showy and bright orange with red or purple spots near the center. The flowers are nodding and the 6 tepals are recurved.
