At a Glance: Tufted hairgrass is a densely tufted perennial with numerous stems and bronze inflorescence. This species grows in tidal marshes, beaches, meadows, lake-shores, and gravelly river bars. This plant is 20-120 cm tall.
Leaves: flat to folded, narrow, stiff, and pointed.
Inflorescence: Loose panicle, often nodding; spikelet bronze and glistening, usually darkening at maturity.
