At a Glance: Coastal Strawberry is a maritime perennial that grows primarily on sand dunes and sea bluffs, never far from sea. Reaching approximately 10” tall, it has short, thick rootstocks connected by short, hairy runners.
Leaves: 3 thick, leathery, strongly veined & coarsely toothed leaflets grow from long basal stalks.
Flowers: Flowers are white, about 1.5” across, with 5-7 petals; 5-9 flowers on a leafless flowering stalk to 12” tall.
Fruit: small hairy strawberry to ½” across.
