At a Glance: Medium-sized evergreen fern

Height: Up to 2ft tall
Leaves: Sterile fronds are up to 2ft and often pressed against the ground; evergreen, leathery and oblong with leaflets tapering at the top and bottom. Fertile fronds are deciduous upright fronds in the center of the sterile fronds with smaller leaflets.

Appeal: Beautiful bright green dainty fern. Does well in full shade and has a high transplanting success rate.

Ethnobotany: Young leaves were chewed by Hesquiat hunters as a hunger suppressant. Leaves were used as a medicine for sores.
