At a Glance: Douglas Aster is a late season, typically coastal perennial that is an important pollinator plant. It can be found around beaches, meadows, streambanks, and moist clearings.

Leaves: Lower leaves lance-shaped, usually stalked; middle leaves lance-shaped to oblong or narrowly elliptic, stalkless, usually toothed, hairless above & beneath.

Flowers: Ray flowers, blue to purple, .4-.8” long; disk flowers yellow. Several to many heads on hairy stalks in a leafy-bracted, open group. Blooms late summer.
