At a Glance: Taprooted perennial w/short, thick rhizomes; stems leafy, hollow, covered with branched or star-like hairs, 8-40” tall. Found often in wet meadows & tidal marshes.

Leaves: Basal leaves long-stalked, round-toothed, heart shaped at base; stem leaves alternate, progressively shorter stalked, palmately 5 lobed into oblong segments.

Flowers:  5 Showy rose-pink petals, somewhat heart shaped, broader & lobed at the tip; 5 sepals united at the base, lobes fringed; numerous stamens.
