At a Glance: Evergreen Huckleberry is an erect, bushy shrub, that thrives in coniferous forests, especially edges and openings at low elevations. It’s often on the beach fringe in the salt spray zone, usually close to tidewater.

Leaves: The leathery evergreen leaves are alternate, egg-shaped and sharp-toothed. They are dark shiny green on top and paler below, distinctly 2-ranked and horizontally disposed.

Flowers: The pink bell-shaped flowers grow in generally nodding clusters of 3-10 in axils of leaves.

Fruit: Deep purplish-black small shiny berries
