At a Glance: This vigorous-growing large shrub or small tree can grow up to 20 feet in height. Its leaves are oval. They are glossy medium green and whitish on the underside.
Appeal: Fast growing. It has shown to be tolerant of seasonal flooding and generally found within a few miles of salt water.
Conservation Uses: Hooker willow is an excellent species for stream banks and riparian area restoration. Its size and stature can provide shade along stream, reducing in-stream water temperatures. Helps control bank erosion.
Helpful Tips: As with any new planting, it should be watered during the dry season for the first 2-3 years until it becomes established. Plants should be spaced 4-6 feet apart and one should expect some mortality.
