At a Glance: Nodding bur-marigold is a fast-growing, annual herb 12–40 inches (30–100 cm) tall with bright yellow, daisy-like flowers that droop or “nod” when mature. It thrives in wet habitats and blooms from late summer into fall.
Leaves: The leaves are opposite, lance-shaped to narrowly oval, with toothed edges. They are often clasping at the base and may be slightly rough to the touch.
Flowers: The yellow flower heads have both ray and disk florets and often nod on their stalks. The seeds (achenes) have barbed bristles that easily cling to fur or clothing.
