At a Glance: Nootka Rose grows in a variety of generally open habitats such as shorelines, meadows, thickets, streamsides, roadsides and clearings. It is spindly, growing up to 10’ tall, with a pair of large prickles at the base of each leaf.
Leaves: The deciduous leaves are alternate, compound with an odd number (5-7) of toothed, elliptical leaflets with fairly rounded tips.
Flowers: Large pink flowers, typically borne singly at the branch tips.
Fruit: Purplish-red, round ‘hips’ 1-2 cm across.
