At a Glance: Another coastal rose that has paired prickles immediately below where leaves attach to the stems is the Peafruit Rose. A spindly deciduous shrub which grows in thickets, riparian areas, along forest edges, and on rocky slopes.

Leaves: Leaves are alternate containing 5 to 7 sharp-pointed leaflets with serrated margins.

Flowers: Several clustered flowers pink to magenta, usually less than 1.5” across.

Fruit: Globe-shaped ‘hips’ which are purplish-red in color, crowned by lingering sepals and stamens.
