At a Glance: Red Osier dogwood is a freely spreading, fast growing shrub with many stems that grows to 20’ tall. The typically bright red branches are opposite, with the lower branches often lying on the ground rooting freely, making them a great restoration plant for stream banks and shorelines. They are an extremely important winter browse for deer and elk, and provide forage and habitat for many other species, and provide a stunning red feature during the drab winter season.

Leaves: Leaves are opposite, deciduous, oval and mostly sharp-pointed. 2”-4” long with prominent parallel veins that converge at leaf tips.

Flowers: Flowers are white to greenish, small and numerous in dense flat-topped terminal clusters.
